The Fashioneata Files: Twisted Bantu Knot Curls

I saw a video with a natural that did this and I KNEW I had to try it on B's hair.  We LOVED the results!  This was done during pageant weekend so her hair was already flat-ironed.

The night before festivities, I two-strand twisted then Bantu knotted her hair.  I didn't hold the knots together with pins or anything I just made sure to wrap it pretty tightly.

The next morning when I took them down before her first competition, according to B, the curls were "beautimous."  The only thing I did to loosen the curls was run my fingers through it and had her give her head a little shake.

Now being in this Texas humidity, the curls didn't last long but we agreed that we will definitely do it again! I also want to try it on her hair when it is not flat-ironed. We will keep you posted!

The Fashioneata Files: Interview Wear

Not sure what a "Fashioneata" is, click here! LOL

No, I am not putting that kid of mine to work...yet. However, she did participate in a pageant a couple of weeks ago and this was one of the mandatory outfits.  She killed the interview portion!  Not only did she look really good but she sounded really confident. I was super proud of her. I will post pageant pictures and do a quick recap at a later date.

Eyelet Shirt: Wal.mart, $5 on clearance!
Belt: Cato, $6 (for two belts; the other one was light brown)
Skirt: Anne Klein, $7 thrift store find
Leopard ballet flats from Tar.get
Accessories: Bracelet is a Clai.res clearance find
Ring is mine and was a gift

The Friday Five: From the Mouth of Babe

She used to be so sweet. *Sigh*

“Mom, you are a business woman and
business women wear heels”

“You look like an assistant today in your flats”

“Flats again huh?” *shakes her head*

“You have on heels?! Catch me daddy
cause I’m bout to faint!”

“Daddy don’t be jealous cause
I’m a hamboning Boss”

Y’all know Best Kid Ever gets on my nerves right! LOL
Have a great weekend!

Pageant Recap: In Pictures

Warning this post is picture heavy!

This post is a few weeks behind! We had so much fun preparing for B's first pageant. Dress shopping, accessory shopping, shoe shopping; the hotel was lovely (we will be heading back later in the summer), the pageant company was wonderful and even the girls were lovely. We had a really good experience with our first pageant. So much fun B will be doing another one in six months though leaving it up to her she would do one monthly! No ma'am, no sir!

This was the first dress she tried on and LOVED but it was nearly $200

We LOVED this one too but it was even more expensive...um we were on a tight budget so NO

B liked this one but me not so much...it ended up being broken or something so we couldn't get it anyway

Fancy signage

B's "stance" during rehearsal

The gang! W was such a HUGE help during the process. Definitely could not have done it without her!

Peep that piano two finger ring! She STAY accessorizing! LOL

Q and I had brunch together!

Lil joka can EAT! He was GREAT brunch company

Before the swim suit competition

Silly girl
We loved this hat!

The pajama party!

We roasted marshmallows and watched an outdoor movie at the hotel
Final look. We found this dress for $89!!!!

The humidity was NOT nice to her hair! LOL we ended up pinning it back because it had gotten so BIG!

B in Blue

Funny story: B has become a Tod.dlers and Tia.ras STAN! She actually practices her pageant "walks" while she's cleaning or walking to the kitchen or just walking in general. She found this dress, which used to belong to W, while we were looking through my closet for dress up clothes. It fit *cries*

I have no idea where she gets her fashion sense from because it definitely was NOT me! I LOVE this color on her and to pair it with yellow and leopard? SUPER CUTE!

Oh and I most certainly purchased my own royal blue dress so I can replicate this look!

B's Fashion Minute

So my super awesome, Queen in training, head of my Auntorage niece is super stylish. You can check her out over here. My fab sister often posts pics of super niece on her blog. I seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE her style. She's been slaying since way back.
My Awesome Niece

Once B saw M's pics on the my sister's blog she immediately asked me why SHE doesn't have a segment on MY blog about her own style *blink, blink*

So to that end, I will occasionally post pictures of my own super awesome daughter's fashion.  She def has her own style and is allowed to express it...within reason. She knows what E and I won't allow and she maneuvers within those boundaries without complaint.  I mean the kid has a signature show style every school year! WHO DOES THAT!!!???

So without further adieu....

It All Started with Todd.lers and Tia.ras

One Saturday Babe was laid up sick. Searching Net.Flix she discovered this pageant show. She watched every season, every episode and decided that she could certainly rock this out. She learned the pageant lingo, cringed at some of the bratty kids, and even convinced me to watch a couple of episodes. She's been practicing eye contact and smile, her turns and her 'beauty walk', complete with taped X's on the family room floor so she could hit her "marks" O_O.

It has been all pageant everything for the past couple of weeks; and this was before she asked to be in one!! Today marks our first day of 'training' for this pageant which is in 30 days.

My head hurts already!
